This November, many organizations across the province have been busy fundraising for local community and recreation groups, such as:
The Government of Saskatchewan also announced more than $1.5 million dollars in charitable gaming grants.
With all of the summer roundups done, many communities are now announcing their plans for upcoming recreation infrastructure improvements. Humboldt and 1 Stop Playgrounds have announced a new pool. The towns of Pontiex and Nipawin have announced pool renovations. Canora are improving their curling rink. The city of Prince Albert is replacing their paddling pool with a spray park. Last but not least, cyclists in La Ronge will be happy to hear that the community is planning to build a bike skills park.
Now that there is plenty of snow on the ground, winter seasonal activities are in full swing, with rinks, ski hills, winter trails etc. opening for recreation activities. Melfort and Prince Albert are planning on introducing the new game Crokicurl to their communities. Winter recreation program registration is well underway in Wilkie. Here’s something else to be aware of: updated trespassing legislation is now on the horizon in Saskatchewan, which could have far-reaching effects on outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, ATVing, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, etc.
