Greetings, everyone!
I am thrilled to embark on this exciting journey with you as the new president of the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA). With a 30-year career in the industry and a genuine commitment to community development, I am eager to bring my experience and passion to this new role.
My connection with SPRA goes back to 1997 when I served on the board at the time it shifted to a Policy Governance model. My continued involvement, both formally as a board and committee member and informally at national gatherings, reflects my genuine dedication to enhancing the quality of life for people in Saskatchewan through parks and recreation.
Having recently retired as the Director of Recreation and Community Services after 25 years with the City of Yorkton, I've had the opportunity to develop my leadership skills overseeing teams dedicated to delivering essential services in Yorkton. My dedication to wellbeing extends far beyond my professional life. As a long-time volunteer, coach for hockey and soccer, and contributor to various events, I've always preferred a hands-on approach to making a positive impact.
Additionally, from 2018 through 2023, I had the privilege of participating in three strategic planning missions to Jordan through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. This global experience added a unique dimension to my leadership style, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and diversity in achieving common goals.
Now, as SPRA's new president, I am ready to translate my passion into action alongside our dedicated board of directors and hard-working staff. Over the next two years, I envision transformative change aligned with SPRA’s new strategic direction, enhancing our industry’s impact on community quality of life. This includes promoting inclusivity and fostering strategic collaborations for a vibrant future in parks and recreation across Saskatchewan.
I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead, and I look forward to working together to create a lasting impact.
