We support professionals in physical and health education to positively influence the lifestyles of Saskatchewan's children and youth.
What programs and services do you offer?
We provide leadership and support advocacy through opportunities like the Quality Daily Physical Education (QDPE) Award Program, our annual Conference and provide guidance on the physical education curriculum.
What is one thing people may not know about SPEA?
You do not need to be a teacher in order to be a SPEA member and take advantage of our membership perks.
What are some of those perks?
One example would be our Resource Loaner program. We have 10 different sets of resources for loan to any SPEA member, including disc golf, pedometers and speed stacks to name a few. Members can book the resource for a 3 week period and it is shipped free to your location (one way).
How does your organization contribute to the wellbeing of people and communities through recreation?
Though our conference, resources and volunteer physical education specialists, we are able to ensure students are receiving a well-rounded physical education experience in their schools and communities. This in turn develops skills and the interest to become physically literate and active for life.
Our Resource Loaner Program has been a huge success. Disc golf courses have been set up, speed stacking tournaments have been held in school divisions and even in a senior citizen center in Moose Jaw. This program instigates new ideas and has inspired communities to be more physically active.
