Tonia Logan joined our board in 2018, as Director for the North. With 18 years’ experience in the recreation field, she has been instrumental to recreation delivery in the Town of La Ronge, where she is currently the Manager of Community Services.
Tonia is an active volunteer who also serves on the Board of Directors for the Northern Sport, Culture and Recreation District (and has since 2014!). Her community-minded perspective focuses on partnership development and building capacity - all with the goal of strengthening Saskatchewan’s recreation community.
What does Recreation mean to you?
Simply put, it’s to enjoy yourself by doing something you enjoy. 😊
What do you like to do for fun?
I have 2 young children who keep me very busy. We enjoy camping, hiking, blueberry picking, tobogganing, playing crokicurl and shoveling snow (not really, but the kids enjoy it...).
What do you find most rewarding about working in this sector?
Being able to create something, whether it be a program, park, structure or simply an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors - and seeing or hearing the joy that families have with all of the above.
How has volunteering as a Board member enhanced your career in the parks and recreation field?
I am new to being a SPRA Board member but so far, I would say my biggest personal development would be learning from the wealth of knowledge that comes from each and every individual that sits around the table, from my fellow Board members to the SPRA staff.
Why did you decide to become a SPRA Board member?
I became a SPRA Board member to learn more about what is out there for myself and my community. It was also an opportunity to help SPRA grow and advance recreation across the province.
What is the best part about being on the SPRA Board
My favorite part of being on the Board is learning about all the great things SPRA is doing for our communities!
Tonia is one of 9 members of our current Board of Directors. Their expertise and leadership help guide our organization and shape the recreation community in Saskatchewan.
