Taylor Morrison has served on our Board of Directors since 2016, as Director for Villages. He has over 10 years of experience working with the City of Yorkton as a Parks Laborer, as well as in his current position as Recreation Services Manager.
If Taylor looks familiar to you, that is because he was Master of Ceremonies at both the 2015 SPRA Conference in Yorkton and Gathering Strength: The Framework for Recreation in Canada Forum in 2018.
What are your favorite recreation activities?
Being outdoors, doing a wide variety of activities such as golf, biking, hiking, or just sitting in the backyard enjoying the sun.
Why did you decide to become an SPRA Board member?
The timing of my personal and professional life lined up with the opportunity to serve on the Board. It has been a wonderful experience so far, and I'm excited to see where it leads me next. Our Board represents a variety of backgrounds and areas, and everyone brings something unique to the table. It is a great group of people to be involved with.
What does recreation mean to you?
To me, recreation is any type of activity that a person chooses to do for themselves, that they find fun, exciting and entertaining, and that they do in their own time.
What do you find most rewarding about your work?
Interacting with people. Recreation jobs provide an opportunity to meet and talk with people to determine their wants and needs within the community, which shapes how we move forward to help serve our citizens.
How has volunteering with the SPRA Board enhanced your career?
SPRA is connected to a strong network of people within the parks and recreation sector. This network is readily available to provide and share information on issues, trends and promising practices.
Taylor is one of 9 members of our current Board of Directors. Their expertise and leadership help guide our organization and shape the recreation community in Saskatchewan.
