This work is complex, nuanced and deeply personal for everyone who has chosen this field as their career. Reflecting on both personal and organizational contributions to SPRA and the entire provincial
system forces all of us outside of our comfort zones. And, I'm immensely proud to be associated with the entire staff team at SPRA, as they lean in to discovering and testing new ways of operating - ones that are more relational, less transactional, and truly aimed at placing community and providers at the centre.
This is what leadership looks like. It is intentional. It is also messy, it is not linear and it will force us to get curious about absolutely everything that is connected to recreation and parks. There is both potential risk and potential reward to what we are undertaking. This journey is not going to look or be anywhere near perfect - but it is going to be real and authentic and we are going to continue to learn with each step and mis-step.
I'm excited about what's ahead for both SPRA and the entire recreation and parks industry in this province!
