The theme for National Volunteer Week in 2025 is Volunteers Make Waves. It highlights the power, impact and importance of individual and collective volunteer efforts. Like a wave, volunteering is movement building.
We are honoured to celebrate Peggy Willman, from Gull Lake, Sask., who is a recreation volunteer making waves in her community. She volunteers on several Committees, assisted in developing a 5km walking trail and supports participation and active living for people of all ages.
Thanks Peggy - for making waves and being a parks and recreation champion! Watch for her story here, as we highlight the amazing volunteers within recreation, sport and culture.
During National Volunteer Week, be sure to thank volunteers in your community with an email, phone call or high-five thanking them for all they do! A little recognition could go a long way!
